As educators, we firmly believe that readers are leaders.                                                                                                      We consider when an individual indulges in reading without core understanding, both time and efforts goes in vain. Most parents wish and have even tried inculcating reading habit in their children through multiple means, however they end up failing miserably. Children seldom find reading interesting unless forced to do so.  Similarly, even at schools it merely becomes a ritual rather than a learning process. A sprinkle of children establish the habit of reading and few manage to understand the content while fewer conclude something out of it.

Reading is productive only when one can understand, infer and interpret the data, perspective building is one of the vital at the same time most neglected skills. In fact, handful of adult struggle to develop reading as a habit since they couldn’t imbibe the skill as a child.

Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or a duty. It should be offered as a gift. “

In order to address this issue, we have designed various programme for children, which in return will help them to not just read but also understand the core words. With help of this module, children will establish a healthy reading habit and stay engaged and interested by their choice.
Developing excellent writing skills is absolutely essential for an effective leadership. Our writers workshop facilitated by experts in the field will emphasis on expanding writing skills.
On the other hand, in our residential programme , children will have a hands on curriculum, they will learn concepts and skills through experiencing the concepts. The productivity of this programme will be reflected immediately and we can assure that members will serve as a leader in their community who has acquired 21st century skills with a Global perspective.

Introduction :

Reading and writing are among the most critical skill cultivated in schools. However, there isn’t enough emphasis on analysing the information they read and transferring the same processed information through thoughtful writing.
This course intends to introduce children to the concept of critical thinking while providing them strategies to help them think, read, take notes and write critically.

Overview of the Course :

Critical thinking is the central intellectual skill that we intend to develop in our students. It involves imbibing a habit or an attitude of ‘reflective scepticism’ towards any given information, data or ideas. Precise reading translates to thinking deeply about any given information the child encounters on a daily basis either in academic or recreational time reading and asking questions of them.

This course will introduce students to the concept of thinking critically while reading, note-taking and writing. Reading critically allows them to analyse topics, relate one piece of research to others in the field and ultimately to establish their own view on a topic and provide a well supported or argument for this view in their writing.

WORKSHOPS

Most of the basic material a writer works with is acquired before the age of fifteen.
-Willa Cather

Students often come to a writing task with endless stories to tell and examples to share, but equally infinite fear of not writing “correctly.” It is this fear that prevents them from exploring language and finding their voice in their writing. This fear that we help students negotiate in order not only to write, but also to compose with sophistication, style and ease.

Writing workshop is just like teaching any other skill; it takes practice, false start, mistakes, collaboration, adjustment, coaching and many more training that finally leads to speed, endurance and agility. We know coaching is good practice for learning; writing workshop applies the coaching model to the heart of the student’s writing life. The writer’s workshop is a place to generate ideas, explore thinking and play with language. It is a safe space where writing can be incomplete without the red pen’s judgment (or green, or purple, or pink as the case may be). Often when working through an idea or reflecting on their understanding, students need that space to be right or wrong or to write through an idea or reflecting on their understanding. The writer’s workshop makes a positive impact as is an integral part of the language learning journey.

The elements of writing workshop are all means of formative assessment where we are supporting the development of the writer, not simply delivering content. When we model our own writing, we are sharing our processes and showing that we value the writing we are asking our students to do.

Helping students to expand their repertoire of language skills.
